ABOUT

In early 2022 Charlie experienced significant head trauma. He was hospitalized for over a week undergoing neurologic evaluations, diagnostics and intensive care. On initial presentation he was unable to walk, and was severely mentally affected. However with the support of his family and medical team, and despite a few set backs, Charlie ultimately made a full recovery.

Spending time in the lobby of the veterinary hospital, Charlie's family heard many stories of animals who needed advanced veterinary care and the struggle some families had to cover the cost of this care. Therefore Charlie's doctors and family came together to start Charlie's fund; a nonprofit organization based out of Palm Beach County. The mission of Charlie's Fund is to help families cover the costs of gold standard veterinary care when they would not be able to otherwise afford it.

Jason Tarricone, DVM, DACVS (SA)

Vice President of Charlie's Fund

Dr. Tarricone started his career in veterinary medicine working as a technician at a general practice in New York City after graduating from Tufts University with a B.S. in Biopsychology. His desire to become a veterinary surgeon developed as he was exposed to the field through a traveling surgeon that visited the practice.

He attended the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in Champaign, Illinois. This was followed by a one-year rotating internship in Medicine and Surgery at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.

Following his internship, Dr. Tarricone was fortunate to match directly into a surgical residency at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Tinton Falls, NJ. This busy private practice residency allowed Dr. Tarricone to gain a large amount of clinical and surgical experience.

Dr. Tarricone enjoys all surgery but is most interested by common orthopedic diseases, fractures, brachycephalic airway disease, parathyroid disease.

Outside of work, Dr. Tarricone enjoys going to the beach, playing hockey, and traveling. He has made the move to Florida with his long-term girlfriend, Jessica. They share their home with three cats: Addy, Leonard and Bernadette.
